Why I Wear Thongs to Work

I wear thongs to work because they feel good, fit well under my work pants, and let me enjoy something a little different in a setting where most of me is expected to fit in.

Curiosity became a habit

I started trying thongs because I wanted to know what they felt like, and kept buying them because I liked wearing them. Along the way, I learned that enjoying a product photograph and enjoying eight hours in the product were quite different things.

I still wear all kinds of underwear, with boxer briefs and thongs making up most of the rotation. My curiosity has become rather more specific about pouch shape and rather less restrained about how much money I spend finding another pair I like. A workday is where I find out whether that purchase was a good idea.

The private appeal

I like being a little different, and work is a place where there is only so much room for that. I still need to dress appropriately and get on with my job, and most of what I wear needs to make sense in an office. Underneath those clothes, though, I can choose something entirely because I enjoy it, without needing anyone else to understand the choice or even know about it.

When I started wearing thongs to work, my main worry was that one would show above my pants or through the fabric. What kept me doing it was how much I liked having it on: it made me feel sexy during an otherwise ordinary day, without needing anyone else to know. I still enjoy that, especially when I travel. I’m not hoping someone will notice; keeping it to myself is part of the appeal.

The feel matters, especially at the front

I tend to prefer a pouch that brings everything forward with some lift and shaped support, rather than pressing me flat or leaving me to hang without much contact. The right amount of pressure behind the package feels good to me, and a little perineal pressure can be part of that. It is a fairly particular preference, which is why two thongs that look similar in a product photograph can feel very different once I put them on.

A forward-pushing pouch helps me feel held in a way I enjoy, and that contributes to the confidence I get from wearing the pair. I like the shape, I like the sensation, and I like feeling good about something I chose for my own body. That small lift in how I feel comes with me into the workday, even though nobody else can see what caused it.

There is still a limit. Support I enjoy at first can become too much if it keeps pressing in the same place through hours of sitting, and I don’t want to spend the afternoon rearranging myself. I want to notice a pair because I like wearing it, with enough room and give to stay comfortable as I move through the day.

They work under my work pants

The practical advantage is straightforward: there is no extra fabric across my butt or down my thighs to bunch, fold or roll as I sit, stand and walk around. I don’t have a boxer-brief leg to pull back into place or a loose panel caught under the seat of my pants. With a thong that fits, there is simply less fabric to manage.

I find that particularly useful under fitted work pants, where another layer of fabric can make itself felt even when it doesn’t show. A comfortable waistband and a rise that stays below my pants matter, too, because removing rear coverage doesn’t make every other part of the garment disappear. I still check the front, especially with the more forward pouches I enjoy, and choose a pair whose shape works beneath what I’m wearing that day.

When I choose boxer briefs instead

With jeans, I often choose boxer briefs. My jeans sit lower than my dress pants, and I don’t always tuck my shirt in, so I have less help keeping a thong waistband out of sight. I also often choose boxer briefs if I expect to use a busy locker room. I’m comfortable writing about thongs; wearing one in front of a roomful of people is a separate ambition.

I like feeling sexy

This is the reason I don’t want to talk around. As a man, I find it easier to dress in a way that looks respectable or appropriate than to find something that makes me feel sexy, particularly in a world that can be fairly insistent about how an ordinary man is supposed to look. A thong gives me a way to enjoy my body and what I’m wearing without needing to look like the person in the product photograph.

I have an ordinary body, and I like putting on underwear that makes me feel attractive. The shape of a pouch, the contact from the tail and the knowledge of what I have on can all contribute to that. It is a small pleasure, but I don’t need a more respectable explanation for enjoying it.
