Andrew Christian
Andrew Christian Happy Gym Thong
The Happy Gym Thong combines a roomy, aggressively forward pouch with firm stability, which makes it very good for a one-hour gym session and a poor candidate for the rest of the day.

Direct verdict
Bottom line
This thong understands its assignment almost too well: it holds everything firmly through running, stretching, and lifting, while its pronounced pouch makes no attempt to disguise what it is doing, but the same under-pouch tension and forward pressure that feel purposeful during a workout become sore and distracting after several hours.
- Best for
- Gym sessions, pronounced pouch projection, firm containment, and anyone who likes to feel supported rather than forget the underwear is there.
- Not best for
- All-day wear, desk-heavy workdays, minimal perineal pressure, or a subtle profile beneath clothing.
- The trade-off
- The force that creates its excellent gym stability also gives the thong a limited comfort window.
- Would I buy it again?
- Yes. I would buy Medium again specifically for the gym, because the snug and secure fit is exactly why I keep reaching for it in that setting, even though I would not buy it expecting an everyday underwear option.

Overall summary
There are products that pretend they can do everything for everyone - Swiss Army knives, duct tape, and WD-40 all come to mind - but the Happy Gym Thong does not even pretend to be versatile. It is a gym thong in the same way a squat rack is gym furniture: highly effective, entirely unapologetic, and not something I want to use for an eight-hour workday.
For its intended use, that focus works. The pouch gives me plenty of physical room while insisting that everything occupy a very specific address - forward and pushed up - and the rest of the garment supplies the compression needed to keep it there. I like that pressure during a workout, although I recognize that not everyone will, and the secure fit has made this one of the thongs I regularly reach for at the gym because it stays put without constant adjustment.
The limitation is equally clear, because this is highly targeted support with a limited duration window, and after the workout I want to change.
Pouch / Support
The pouch is roomy in volume but very particular about location, with a pronounced shape that pushes everything forward and outward, produces a visible profile, and still keeps me contained during running, stretching, and lifting.
That combination is more unusual than it sounds, because a roomy pouch can feel loose while a supportive one can become cramped. This one creates space by projecting forward, then uses the surrounding compression to hold that shape in place, which earns it a 4 for pouch and support even though the same lift becomes excessive outside its narrow gym use case.
Fabric and Feel
The label lists 93% polyester and 7% spandex, and on the body that translates to a smooth, stretchy, distinctly synthetic feel that is well suited to a workout.
The main fabric appears to move moisture reasonably well, but the problem is the closeness of the fit rather than a grand failure of polyester, because limited airflow allows heat and sweat to linger around the seams, rear strap, and waistband. That is manageable during a normal gym session and becomes more noticeable only as the wear stretches on.
A narrow strip of pouch fabric beneath the sides of the waistband can bunch slightly, especially under tight clothing, but it is too minor to alter the fit or become a meaningful complaint.
Waistband
The thick waistband carries the Andrew Christian name across it and contributes to the garment's firm, compressed feel, staying level without normally rolling while giving the pouch a stable anchor during movement.
During a normal gym session it largely disappears from my attention, which is useful for something this substantial, although the branding is loud enough to send a clear signal if it is visible in the locker room, so whether it stays tucked under the shorts may depend on the signal you want to send.
Thong and Tail
The tail is the quiet part of the design, because it lies flat, does not pull aggressively, and remains stable while I move. I am aware that I am wearing a thong, but the rear strap is not the part demanding attention, and it provides enough tension to support the pouch without disturbing the otherwise flat rear fit.
The rise is not especially low and sits around the height of my gym shorts, remaining concealed while I stand and move normally. It may appear above the shorts when I bend, but I have never spent a workout worrying about an accidental whale tail.
Movement and All-Day Wear
At hour one, the compression feels purposeful, the pouch remains planted through running, stretching, and lifting, and I do not need to rearrange it between exercises, which is why Medium is the size I would buy again.
By roughly hour five, the seams beneath the pouch begin pulling against the perineal area and the continued forward pressure leaves my package sore. I wore it for 10 hours once and nothing sudden or acute happened, but I was sore afterward and did not repeat the experiment.
That does not make the thong a failure, because it is a specialist and I now treat it like one: I wear it to train and change when I get home, while for an all-day wear I choose something else.
Washing and Durability
After more than two years, at least 20 wears, and at least 20 cold washes followed by low-heat drying, the thong has not noticeably shrunk, sagged, or lost its shape, with the pouch still projecting, the elastic still compressing, and the tail still lying flat. Durability is the easiest score here: 5.
The only recurring laundry annoyance is the woven care and material tag at the rear waistband, which rolls after washing and usually needs to be flattened before I finish pulling the thong into place, although it has never been uncomfortable against the skin.
