Overall summary

The first thing I notice about the RIBBED is how much fabric there seems to be for a thong. The ribs run vertically, but stretch easily across the body, giving the pouch and tail room to move without pulling hard at one seam. I feel lightly held rather than squeezed.

It feels warmer and thicker against my skin than the flatter fabrics I usually prefer, with something of a knit sweater about it. That is a description of its substance, rather than a particular occasion when it made me too hot.

The pouch is larger than most AWRY products I have tried and gives me enough forward room to remain upright, with good projection and a little lift. The compression is there, but it sits in the background. During a 10-hour workday spent mostly sitting, getting up, and walking in dress pants, the pouch stayed settled, the tail stayed centered, and the waistband stayed flat. I did not adjust it once.

If this and the Primeman were both clean, I would probably choose the flatter fabric for work. The RIBBED is a comfortable change for me rather than a first choice, and even in colder weather I would probably reach for boxer briefs. A pair can work well without becoming the one I want most often.

Pouch / Support

AWRY gives the RIBBED more pouch room than most of its other products I have tried, and the shape works with the way I prefer to wear everything rather than forcing me into a downward position. It comes forward enough for good projection and slight lift, while the back of the pouch applies a light cupping pressure.

The support is natural rather than aggressive. Horizontal give in the ribbed fabric keeps the pressure from becoming rigid or collecting in one spot, and the pouch stayed settled through my longest wear. That combination earns a 4: the pouch gives me the room and upright positioning I want, even if the fabric and overall fit remain the pair's defining strengths.

Fabric and Feel

AWRY lists the material as 46% cotton, 46% viscose, and 8% elastane. What I notice most is the horizontal give across the vertical ribs: the fabric stretches with the fit, and I do not feel the tension collecting at one seam or edge.

The extra material stays noticeable against my skin, but I do not have a particular wear where it became uncomfortably hot. It did not become clammy or trap enough moisture to make me adjust anything during my workday. I can appreciate that substantial feel while still preferring a flatter fabric most of the time.

Waistband

The waistband sits higher than on most thongs I own, but not egregiously so. Medium felt true to size, and the band stayed flat and concealed beneath a tucked-in undershirt and dress shirt. That higher rise works well with layered work clothes. With jeans, the issue is less comfort than disclosure: bend far enough and the waistband has a better chance of introducing itself.

Thong and Tail

For a pair I wear through a workday, I appreciate a tail that settles comfortably and stays there. This one felt right in width, never pulled, and stayed centered and flat through the day. It had enough give that I rarely thought about it once it was in place.

The thickness matters more beneath clothing. I saw no line under dress pants with a tucked-in undershirt and the rest of a work outfit, but skintight pants would be a less forgiving test.

Movement and All-Day Wear

Ten hours of mostly sitting, getting up, and walking is not a torture test, but it is long enough for small fit problems to become very loud. None did. The pouch stayed in place, the waistband stayed flat, and the tail did not wander. Because the pouch accommodated my preferred upright position, there was no point when warmth or moisture made me want to rearrange it.

After about five wears, stability is the clearest strength. The compression is noticeable if I stop to think about it; otherwise, the pair asks for very little attention.

Washing and Durability

After about five cold washes and very-low-heat dries, I cannot see any meaningful change. There is no pilling. A few ordinary threads are visible in the textured cotton-viscose knit, but I do not see them as deterioration.

That supports a 4 for durability so far. I am pleased with how it has held up, although five washes are still an early check.
